Borobudur is a Hindu - Buddhist temple located in Malang, Centarl Java, Indonesia. it was built in the 9th century under the Sailendra dynasty of the ancient Mataram Kingdom.
Borobudur is well-know all the world. its contruction is influenced by the Gupta architecture of india. the temple is contruted on a hill 46 meters high and consists of eight step like stone terraces. the first terraces are square and surrounded by walls adorned whit Buddhist sculpyures in bas-relief. the upper three are circular each whit a circle of bell shape-stupas. The entire edifice is crowned by a large stupa at the centre of the top circle. the way to the summit extends through some 4,8km of passage and starways. The design of Borobudur, which symbolizes the stucture of the universe influenced temples at Angkor, Cmbodia.
Since Borobudur is a valuable treasure for Indonesian, it is rededicated as an Indonesia monument in 1993.
